Summerlin, Jerry W. , age 67, of Ashville, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2009. He was retired from Merita Bakery and was employed by the Birmingham News. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and was on the ship Oriskney. Funeral Services will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home on Friday, January 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Valhalla Cemetery. Rev. Bo Brown officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2009 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Crist Summerlin; son, Scott Summerlin (Jennifer); step daughters, Donna Rizzo (Joey) and Cristi Wilson (Greg); grandchildren, Alex and Abby Summerlin, Nathan, Jarred and Lauren Rizzo and Taylor Wilson; brother, Johnny Jones; step brother Danny and step sister Linda, nephew, David Summerlin (Donna) and a number of other nieces and nephews.
