Ms. Jimmie Claire Young was born in Springville, Alabama on February 14, 1927 and left us on October 6, 2020 at the age of 93.
As a young child she spent most of her life in Brighton and then Midfield, Alabama. As an adult she lived in Fairfield, Alabama and, known as Ms. Jimmie, worked as a buyer and manager at Pizitz and Aland's Department Stores. After retiring she moved to Gulf Shores, Alabama, so that all the family would have a place to come stay at the beach. Jimmie Claire loved and was devoted to her family. She was known for her chic fashion style and funny stories of a life well lived.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved sister Cheryl (Frank) White; sister-in-law Nona Young; nieces and nephews: Ron (Sheila) Walton, Tim (Sandy) Walton, Glenda (Dennis) Goodwin, Robin (Chuck) Crotwell, Jeff (Becky) Young, Tracy Young Christensen, Craig (Sandy) Young, Clifford (Carol) Owens, Steve Owens, Brian Young, Doug (Michelle) Young, Derrell (Julie) White and Scott White; cousins: Jim Walker, Marilyn Nicholson, Pat Ray and Tom Walker.
Additionally she is survived by many great/great-great nieces and nephews.
Ms. Young is preceded in death by her parents Clara and James Young; sister and brother-in-law Virginia and Frank Walton; brother Lawrence Young; brother and sister-in-law Glenn and Helen Young; her dear friend Juanita Milazzo; along with many other loved ones.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers, calls and visits.
The visitation will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home, 5317 Bessemer Super Highway, Midfield on Monday, October 12, 2020 at 1PM followed by the Celebration of Life at 2PM. Rev. Edward Cruce (Brother Ed) of Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church will officiate the services. Pallbearers are Scott White, Derrell White, Craig Young, Tim Walton, Brian Young, and Doug Young. Interment will be in Valhalla Cemetery, 839 Wilkes Road, Midfield immediately following the service.
