IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joe Wheeler
Clark
January 3, 1933 – January 19, 2025
Joe Wheeler Clark, age 92, of Gadsden, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19th, 2025, at Noland Hospital RMC in Anniston, Alabama. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew him.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Geneva (Gennie), and his 12 brothers and sisters. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, Joseph (Kelly) and Keith (Regina), his grandchildren, Shelly Clark Mason (Miles), Nicholas, and Sophie Clark, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and his loyal little protector, Gizmo.
Joe shared a special bond with his grandson, Nicholas. The two were often inseparable, sharing countless hours of joy and comfort, with Nicholas being a great source of strength and companionship for his Pawpaw.
A long-time carpenter in the Etowah County area, Joe also worked for many years as an above-ground pool installer. His expertise and work ethic were well known, but it was his genuine nature and ability to connect with people that made him truly stand out. Joe enjoyed many hobbies, including spending time with his wife, Gennie, going to yard sales, playing pool and poker, and making trips to the casinos. He was a passionate fan of college football and baseball, and always enjoyed spirited conversations about the game.
Joe's generosity of spirit extended to all who crossed his path. He was a kind and gentle soul, never meeting a stranger, and a member of East Gadsden Baptist Church. His legacy is one of love, kindness, and faith, and he now rests in peace with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, January 24th, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home, with a chapel service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory may be made to Joe Lee Griffin Hope Lodge in Birmingham, Alabama, an organization that was close to his heart.
Joe will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testament to love, laughter, and faith, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he left behind.
