Spinks, John Oliver , age 94, of Midfield, AL, passed away October 24, 2008. He was a charter member of Fairfield Highlands United Methodist Church. A member of Isaac Walton League. A veteran of World War II in the Pacific Theater and the 117th Tac Recon Wing of the Alabama Air National Guard. Funeral Services will be held at Fairfield Highlands United Methodist Church Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Valhalla Cemetery. Rev. Deborah Epley officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the church. He is preceded in death by his 1st wife, Frances Hyche Spinks. He is survived by his wife, Emily Dollar Spinks; his son, John O. Spinks, Jr.; his daughter, Celia Roberson and her husband Gene; his granddaughter, Gina Roberson and grandson, Robbie Roberson. The family would like to express their gratitude to Margaret & Joseph Holloman for their love and support and the nursing staff at St. Vincent's Hospital and Holistic Health Care Hospice.
