of McCalla, AL, passed away on August 17, 2007. He was born October 11, 1922. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty; brother, Charles Torbet; children, John R. Torbert (Karen), David E. Torbert (Wendy), Carol Dawson (Tom), James E. Torbert (Sandra), Andrew N. Torbert; seven grand children, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He served in the Navy Seabees in the Pacific during World War II. He was retired from US Steel after thirty five years of service. He was a member of Maytown Baptist Church and formerly a Deacon at Powderly Baptist Church and Shady Grove Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home on Monday August 20, 2007 at 11:00 AM with burial in Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2007 from 5:30 until 8:00 PM.
