age 92, of Trussville, passed away on August 4, 2006. He was a member of Bluff Park United Methodist Church. Joseph was discharged from the U.S. Navy on Dec. 23, 1945 after serving in England and the Atlantic Theater during WWII. After WWII he went into the shoe repair business in West Blockton. In 1951 he was one of the first 1000 employees hired at Hayes Aircraft at the Birmingham airport which was started by Lou Jeffords. He retired from Hayes in 1977. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Joseph Stewart, Sr., also his first wife, Claudia Campbell Stewart and brother, Charles D. Stewart. Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife of 26 years, Edith Stewart; children, Charles W. (Janet Morton) Stewart, JoAnn (William L.) Lewis, Ronald W. (Ann McElroy) Stewart; eight grandchildren, Traci L. (Mark A.)Stewart Dolly, James D. (Carrie Pascua) Stewart, Stuart (April Steele) Lewis, Kelli Stewart (Alan) Walker, Sheri Stewart Calhoun, Lisa (Allen) Hadaway, Ronald W. Stewart, Jr., Michelle (Carol) Abts; great-grandchildren, Sophia James Dolly, Bryan Stewart, Bryanna Stewart, Daniel Walker, Brooke Walker, Peyton Calhoun, Drew Abts, Cody Abts, Hayley Abts, Paris Stewart, Amber Hadaway, Rebecca Hadaway, Eleana Hadaway. Visitation will be on Monday, August 7, 2006, from 10:00 am till 11:00 am. The service will be at 11:00 am on Monday at Valhalla Funeral Home with burial to follow at Valhalla Cemetery. The minister of Bluff Park United Methodist Church, Rev. Reid A. Crotty, will be officiating.
