Obituary

Reese, Julia Rebecca, passed away January 13, 2009. She was born May 4, 1920, the second of three children of Grady and Mae Reese. She spent her professional career living in many different countries around the world serving as a Foreign Service officer for the U.S. State Department. After retiring and moving back to her home city of Birmingham, she was active in the Salvation Army Auxiliary, her Sunday school class at the First United Methodist Church in Birmingham and the Birmingham Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Iota Sorority. She was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Robert "Bob" and Lois Reese. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Tommie and Ira Hyche; her niece, Patsy (Stanley) Graves and nephew, Bobby Reese; four grand-nieces and nephews; and six great grand-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, at Valhalla Funeral Home, followed by a private burial. The family will receive friends, one hour prior to the service in the Valhalla Funeral Home parlor. The family would like to express their gratitude to Stacy Campbell and Miranda Miles, Julia's devoted caregivers, and to Sondra Moss and the Staff of Amedisys Hospice Services at Mt. Royal Towers
