age 89, of Bessemer, AL, a resident of The Oaks on Parkwood since June 2002, passed away Friday, May 21, 2010. She was an avid gardener, retired from Golden Flake and a former member of Jonesboro Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Lewis Parsons and her son, Don L. Parsons. She is survived by three children, Joe Parsons, Sharon Carroll and Kathy (Don) Lancaster; daughter-in-law, Glynda Parsons; grandchildren, Debbie (Gary) Simmons, Steve Parsons, Kelley (Jeff) Vance, Bud Lancaster and Madalyne Lancaster; four great grandchildren; and special friend and caretaker, Sharon Willis affectionately known as "Sara" . Graveside services will be held at Valhalla Cemetery Monday, May 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Bro. Chris Sullivan officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, May 24, 2010 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home.
