Visitation for Larry Joe Kelley, 72, of Pleasant Grove, Alabama, will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Valhalla Funeral Home in Midfield. A private graveside service will follow at Valhalla Cemetery. Reverend Steve Pott and Jim Kelling will be officiating.

Larry Joe Kelley passed away on June 20, 2024. Born on November 3, 1951, in Birmingham, Alabama, he was a lifelong resident of Alabama. Larry retired from US Steel in 2016 after a dedicated career. He was a familiar face on his front porch, known for his friendly waves to passersby and his ability to strike up a conversation wherever he went. A devoted husband, father, and 'Pop,' Larry cherished his family deeply. His kindness and compassion touched many lives

He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; daughters, Carol Kelley and Melissa Hornbuckle (Grant); son, Clayton Kelley (Julie); stepdaughters, Kimberley Click (Chuck) and Holly Pilato (Josh); grandchildren Jon Kelley, Jackson Kelley, Caitlin Kelley, Macie Kelley, Peyton Hornbuckle, Kristen Click Ellis, Patrick Click, Colby Pilato, Emma Pilato; great-grandchildren, Nixon Ellis and Cannon Ellis; and his mother Lois Kelley. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Alton Kelley, and brother, Don C. Kelley.

A graduate of Hueytown High School, Larry's roots run deep in his community. In remembrance, contributions may be made to Westwood Baptist Church, 2229 Forestdale Blvd., Forestdale, AL 35214.

The family has entrusted Valhalla Funeral Home in Midfield, AL with the arrangements. Larry's warmth and generosity will be missed by all who knew him.
