Laura Jean Cheatham Phillips, age 97 of Huntsville, Alabama passed away peacefully at Hospice Family Care October 31, 2022. She was born July 24, 1925 in Fort Deposit, Alabama and grew up in Bessemer, Alabama. After graduating from Bessemer High School in 1943, she went to business school and worked for Tennessee Coal and Iron in Birmingham. She went on to be homemaker, substitute teacher and community volunteer. She loved to sew and cook and was known for her cakes, pies and confections. Her hospitality was open to all and she enjoyed serving her guests. She was a long time faithful member of Hueytown Church of Christ from 1964 to 2019. Mrs. Phillips is survived by her children, Virginia "Jenny" Phillips(David) Jacks, and Jack Alton Phillip Jr.(Heather); grandchildren, Andrea Jacks(Richard) Jernigan, Lauren Jacks Pell, and Stone Hogan Phillip; great

grandchildren, Owen Joshua Pell, Anna Lauren Pell, and Ari Calvin Pell; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Jack Phillips, Sr., parents, W.E. and Velma Cheatham, son,Ward Phillips and three brothers and two sisters. Chapel Services will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home, Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation beginning prior from 12:30-2:00p.m. at the funeral home.
