Mrs. Lillian Ann Shaw, 82, of Birmingham, AL passed Wednesday, February 9, 2022. She was born on December 8, 1939 in Greensboro, AL
to Elijah Hobson and Lucy Coleman Hobson and the youngest of five children. She was married 33 years to James E. Shaw Sr. (deceased).
Lillian graduated as salutatorian from Fayette County Training School in 1958. Her journey led her to receive a BS in Education from Alcorn A&M in
Lorman, MS. She received her MS Degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA where she was a college instructor. She was a Program
Director for Upward Bound at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
Lillian served as a 5th grade teacher for the Birmingham Board of Education. She taught over 20 years in the Birmingham City Schools until
her retirement.
Lillian is proceeded in death by her sisters, Easter Barker Howell, Mary "Mae" Butler, and brother Cekimber Hobson. She is survived by her
children James Shaw, Jr., Patricia Morehead (Jarvis), Jason Shaw, Mischell Shaw Massey, and grandchildren Autumn Massey-Sims
(Christian), Victoria Morehead, Christen Massey, and brother Oliver Hobson of Ohio. Visitation will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home, 5317
Bessemer Super Hwy, Midfield, AL 35228 on Friday, February 18, 2022 from 12:00-4:00pm. Interment will be Saturday, February 19, 2022 at
11:00am graveside Valhalla Cemetery. Masks and social distancing will be required.
