On April 1, 1946, in Palos, Alabama, Willie and Effie McShan welcomed their eighth child, Lillye Jean McShan Gadsden; a precious soul whose life would become a testament to love, faith, and service.

Lillye accepted Christ at a young age and committed her life to walking in holiness. She served faithfully for over 30 years at Overcommeth Holiness Church in Ensley, Alabama, under the leadership of Pastors Alfred Youngblood Sr., Ann Youngblood, and Alfred Youngblood Jr. In 2023, she moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, where she became a member of Abundant Grace Christian Church, led by Apostle Jeffery and Pastor LaValerie Smith.

A proud high school graduate and associate degree holder in education, Lillye spent much of her professional life with the Birmingham Board of Education before retiring due to health concerns. Even then, her desire to minister never ceased. She was later ordained as an Evangelist, continuing her mission by visiting nursing homes, hospitals, and communities, sharing the Gospel and bringing hope to all she met.

Lillye's heart was full of compassion, kindness, and unwavering faith. She touched countless lives through her service, prayer, and love, leaving behind a legacy of grace and spiritual strength.

She was preceded in death by her parents and all eight of her siblings. She is lovingly remembered by her four children: Brigitte Thomas (Jerral), Henry Gadsden (Tonza), Veronica Selma (Earnest), Ethel Middleton, and her goddaughter Denise Shearer; 19 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and cherished friends.
