Lorene Baker Adkins, age 90 of Bessemer went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2018. She was a native and life long resident of Jefferson County where she was a retired beautician with more than forty years of service. She was a former member of Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church and presently a member of Gardendale First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Kenneth Adkins; a son, Michael Kenneth Adkins; her parents; her twin sister, Corene Thomas; and a grandson, Lynn Lowery.

She is survived by one son, Walter Donald Adkins (Janice); three daughters, Charlotte Brown (Joseph), Sandra Singleton (Gene), and Jean Sullivan (Keith); a daughter-in-law, Kathy Adkins; nine grandchildren; William Jeffery Lowery (Stacey), Kimmi Creel (Johnny), Dina Odom, Corey Fox, Kevin Adkins, Robbie Adkins, Mitch Adkins, Tommy Adkins, and Necee Adkins; and a brother, Huey "Dewitt" Baker, Jr.

Services will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Valhalla Chapel with Kevin Hamm officiating. Burial was in Valhalla Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Valhalla Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Gardendale First Baptist Church.
