Lucius E Elwell Jr. ( Lee Sr.)
September 4, 1923- June 1, 2015
Mr. Elwell, a loving husband and father, died on June 1, 2015 in Panama City, Florida. He went to join his wife Catherine, youngest son Robin, and his mother, father and sisters and his Heavenly Father in Heaven. He was born and raised in Fairfield, Alabama.
Mr. Elwell leaves behind his loving family; son, Lee Elwell,III and wife Delana; grandsons, Jason , Brandon and Joshua Elwell, and their beautiful families including Grand Daughter-in-laws, Christina and Allison Elwell; 6 beautiful great grandchildren Aiden, Emma , Ocean, Isla, Noah and Brody Elwell and niece Cheryl Johnson.
Mr. Elwell spent his last 6 years at Sims State Veterans Home in Panama City, Fl. where he was Resident Council President. He was a WW II Naval Veteran who loved his country. Mr. Elwell was most widely known for his achievements as a veteran Police Officer and Trucking Transportation Executive in Birmingham, Al. He was active in the Masonic Lodge, Presbyterian Church and most notably as a tremendous volunteer of the Lloyd Noland Hospital Auxiliary serving in a variety of capacities. Mr. Elwell was loved and admired by many for his friendship, loyalty, generosity and kindness shown to all that knew him, both family and friends alike. Mr. Elwell never met a stranger. His kindness, nurturing spirit and smile drew attention wherever he went. He lived and worked in Birmingham Al. until his late retirement years where he moved to his Beloved Beach House in Panama City Beach, Florida that he built in 1958. Mr. Elwell was a wonderful man, loved by many, who will miss him dearly. May the good Lord give him rest and peace after a long hard fought battle, and welcome him home with His open and loving arms.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of Sims State Veteran''s home in Panama City, Florida, for the wonderful care and support they gave him during his stay. The staff and residents became his extended family, all of whom he loved dearly. We will all miss him dearly.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Valhalla Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until prior to service time at Valhalla Funeral Home.
