Margaret Ann Brown was the 6th child born to the late Clay Lewis and Edna Sherron on September 29, 1952.
Margaret was taught at a very early age of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She attended Mount Zion Baptist Church and later she joined Saddlers Chapel A.M.E. Church. Margaret loved God, her church, family and cherished her husband.
Margaret was educated through the Bessemer School System. She was the sole provider for her 3 children. She worked at St. Vincent''s Hospital for several years, and then she was employed by Dr. Ira and Cynthia Gore for over 20 years whom she considered family instead of employers. If you knew Margaret you knew she was "well put together" and ensured that her children and husband would be as well. In other words; "she was a sharp dresser".
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Clay Lewis, her sister Mary Coleman and her brother, Melvin Lewis.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband Johnnie Brown of Birmingham, Al. , devoted son, Larry Rogers of Hartford, Ct., 4 daughters Gloria Jenkins of Hartford, CT, Angela (Trevor) Rogers-Alston of Bloomfield, CT, Laketta (Christopher) Ray and Tosha Brown both of Birmingham, Al., 2 sisters in law Linda Dickson and Joan Jones both of Birmingham, Al; three sisters, Annie McWhorter, Midfield, AL, Gwendolyn Lewis and Betty Anderson both of Hartford, CT; two brothers, Clifford (Mary) Lewis, Hoover, AL and Leroy (Barbara) Lewis, Birmingham, AL; 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 4 pm until 8 pm at the Valhalla Funeral Home. Mrs. Brown will lie in state, Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 9 am until the 11 am funeral hour at Seddler's Chapel AME Church located at 21 Center Street, Bessemer, AL 35020. Rev. Johnnie Edison, Jr. will be the officiant.
Burial will take place in Valhalla Cemetery, Midfield, AL.
