Mr. Murphree was retired from the Coca Cola Company where he worked for over 35 years primarily in the advertising department. He was active in the Junior Achievement programs representing Coca Cola. He truly loved Coca Cola and was a collector of Coke memorabilia.
Mr. Murphree was a constant joker, full of laughter with a dry quick wit about him. He was a creative and avid woodworker who was constantly in his shop "inventing things" before poor health left him unable to walk. His creativity was also evident in the many works of wrought iron that he produced over the years.
Special thanks to Pennie Agee, a wonderful friend and supportive caregiver, for the loving care that she has given to both Marvin and Bettye for a number of years. Also thanks to Priscilla Bailey and the home care staff of Alacare as well as the staff at Golden Living Meadowood for their care.
He was a long time member of Vinesville Baptist Church until it closed and has been a member of Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church in recent years.
Services will held on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 11:30 A.M. at Valhalla Chapel with burial in Valhalla Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
