Mary Louise Patterson, 92, of Bessemer, Al. passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 in Birmingham, Al.
Louise resided most of her adult life in Fairfield Highlands where she and her late husband raised their family. After years of being a homemaker, active in civic clubs and PTA she joined the work force in office positions and eventually found her position that suited her so well at Arlington Antebellum Home as office manager, event planner and hostess for many events. She was also very active in activities in her church, Fairfield Highlands Baptist, where she remained a member for life.
Louise was the sixth of ten children born to Pheland and Annie Anderson. Her parents, as well as 8 of her siblings predeceased her. Her youngest sister, Sarah Nell Sterman of Crestview, Florida is the surviving sibling. Her husband of 44 years, Floyd David Patterson, passed away in 1990. She also had two son-in-laws, Charlie Roberts and David Anthony predeceased her.
Three daughters survive her; Lois Roberts, Charlotte Anthony and Jennifer (Chuck) Kimbrough. She was Gran Gran to eight grandchildren; Marc Anthony, Chris Anthony (Kerra), Stacie Munyon (Kyle), Casey Humphries (Jim), Stephanie Drew (Allen), Katie Kimbrough, Chase Kimbrough, and Will Kimbrough; 10 great grandchildren; Jackson, Grayson, Grey, Grant, Gage, Avery, Addison, Anderson, Jude, and Miriam. She is also survived by a host of friends and extended family.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Valhalla Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Allen Drew officiatinig. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to her favorite charity, The Salvation Army, 2015 26th Ave No., Birmingham, Al 35234.
"Louise had a servants heart, gave freely and generously and cared for so many in an extraordinary way. She loved her family fiercely and will be missed until we are all together again in our forever heavenly home."
