Mary Alice Carlin Rickett passed away in her sleep January 23, 2021 in Palliative Care at UAB. She was preceded in death by her parents Alta Mae and Dennis Carlin, brother Dennis Carlin Jr., husband Ronald Rickett and infant children Donald Simmons Jr. and Danny Simmons. Known as a very funny Granny, she was never happier than when playing peek-a-boo with a baby. She is survived by daughter Gwen Garrett (Lane Garrett), grandchildren Samantha Garrett and Vicki Garrett (Edward Chauca), and the best great granddaughter in the world. There are many beloved cousins and dear nieces and nephews. She made wonderful friends in a grief support group after losing Ron. They had silly times at weekly lunches and giggles when asked what kind of club they were in. The family suggests memorial gifts, in lieu of flowers, be made to the American Heart Association of the VFW. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021at Valhalla Cemetery.
