Graveside services will be at 10am on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Forest Crest Cemetery for Mary
'Evelyn' Hilyer, age 77, of Harpersville who died Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Jonathan Muse will
officiate.
Evelyn will be remembered as a Christian first, who loved the Lord and her church. She served
the church any way she could, including several years as treasurer. She also devoted her time
at The Alabama Baptist Food Bank as a volunteer. She worked as a hairdresser for years where
she acquired several lifelong friends who became like family through the years. She had a
sense of humor that was beyond words. She had many "Evelyn-isms", which is what family
would call her many funny sayings and phrases. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother,
and friend to all, she will be missed dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents William and Mary Chandler.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jesse. Children: Kelly Hilyer Whitten and
Leslie Hilyer(Tonya); Grandchildren: Taylor, Mary Grace, Olivia(Caleb), Jessi and great
grandson, Carson. Sisters Mickey and Myra Ann. Her fur babies Harley and Honey, as well as
more friends than we can count
