Mary Suzette Pate-Hetzer passed away Friday evening August 7th, 2020 with her husband of 25 years, Steven by her side. She was born February 24th, 1960 in Fairfield, Alabama to Nelda Anne Hutson and Fred Smith Pate Jr..

Suzette was a graduate of Jess Lanier High School, she later attended the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa receiving a B.S. degree from the School of Environmental Sciences with a double major in Marketing and Fashion Design. In 1980 she won the Lenox Table Setting Contest beating out 6,800 other contestants. Suzette considered herself a 'foody' and was well on her way to becoming a first class cook. She had an inner and outer beauty but it was her eyes that people remarked upon and when she laughed, they sparkled.

She is survived by husband Steven and his sister Kathleen, uncle Hosey Hutson and his wife Susan of Birmingham Alabama; cousins Betsy Barb of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Janet Perryman of Wellington, Florida and extended family

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 14th at Valhalla Funeral Home, 5317 Bessemer Super Highway, Midfield, Alabama 35228. There will be a viewing at 12 noon followed by a Chapel service at 1 pm with interment at Valhalla Cemetery immediately thereafter.
