Mrs. Mary C. Washington was born February 12, 1923 in Dallas County, Alabama to the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie and Ora Lee Brantley Coats.

Mrs. Mary C. Washington confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Selma, Alabama. Later, she moved to Birmingham, Alabama and joined St. Joseph Baptist Church where she served for many years. Then, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, GOD led her to join the Greater New Antioch Baptist Church where she remained a faith member until her death.

Mrs. Mary C. Washington was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Ora Lee Coats; four sisters, Ida Mae Coats, Pheonia Everson, Susie Mae Coats and Queen E. Coats; five brothers, Adam White, Roosevelt Coats, Will Coats, John Hood Coats and Ocie Coats.

Mrs. Mary C. Washington leaves to cherish her memories: one son, James A. (Carrie) Washington of Midfield, AL; one daughter, Aurelia (Harold) Threatt of Center Point, AL; three granddaughters, April Washington, Nicole Washington and Deborah Washington; three great grandchildren, Tapanga Dowdell, Sa''Rayhia Dowdell and Ariyal Washington; a special godson, Jerry Head; a special god-granddaughter, Krystle Wrenn; a brother, John Henry (Lula) Coats of Selma, AL; a sister, Johnnie Mae Seino of Woodside, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
