Walker, Melvin G., age 76, of Hueytown, AL, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2008. He was retired from the City of Bessemer Police Department. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Graveside Services will be held at Valhalla Cemetery on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Walker; sons, Melvin Walker, Jr., (Cindy), Thomas Walker and Randy Walker; grandchildren, Jared (Vicki), Brett, Leah, Bradley (Dami), Kirk (Sabrina) and Daniel; great grandchildren, Serena, Aiden and Emma; sister, Natalie Hoffman; a number of nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Southeast Hospice and the Bessemer Kidney Center for their care.
