Adkins, Michael Kenneth , age 52, of Hoover, AL, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a devoted husband, father and son. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Kenneth Adkins. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Kathy Langston Adkins; son, Kevin Adkins and mother, Lorene Adkins. He is also survived by his sisters, Charlotte Brown (Joe), Sandy Singleton (Gene), Jean Sullivan (Keith); brother, Don Adkins (Janice) and several nieces and nephews. Mike was a graduate of Midfield High School and he attended Jacksonville State University. He was an executive for almost twenty years with Birmingham Rail and Locomotive. Their support throughout Mike's illness will never be forgotten. Appreciation is also expressed to Dr. Allen Yeilding and the staff of Hematology and Oncology Associates of Alabama for their exceptional care and compassion. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from 9:45 until 11:00 a.m. at Riverchase United Methodist Church in Hoover. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Bro.
