Obituary

Mildred Pauline "Polly" Montgomery, died peacefully on June 21st , 2014, a resident of Mt. Royal Towers since 2003. She was born July 21, 1920 in Birmingham, to Mildred and John Lelus Montgomery, Sr. She graduated Fairfield High School and attended business college. Polly worked as a legal secretary retiring after many years of service from the US Bankruptcy Court. Upon retirement she assumed the role of caregiver for both her mother and sister. Polly was truly a Southern lady, strong, independent, well dressed, perfect hair and makeup. A lady who never failed to say "THANK YOU" and she exuded that charm and friendliness to everyone she touched. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Polly was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jettie. She is survived by her brother, John Lelus Jr. (Rhonda), nephew, John Lelus III (Leigh Anne) their children John Lelus IV and Hans; neice, Suzanne, all of Birmingham, and her sister Barbara Hocks (Bill), neice Kim Gach (Mark), their child Karlie Cohagan (Nathan) and child Jackson, all of Portland, OR; longtime sitter and friend, Cleatrice Franklin.

Funeral services will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home, Midfield, AL on Thursday June 26, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Visitation in the chapel 10:00 AM TO 11:00 AM.
