Obituary

Morses "Richard" Kirby (Cuz), 92, a resident of Albuquerque 53 years and passed away peacefully Friday, January 11, 2008, in the quiet of the early morning. He was born on September 18, 1915 in Spartanburg, SC. Richard was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Bonnie Maebelle McBrayer-Kirby, and second wife of 17 years, June Kirby; sisters, Frances Silvius of ME, and Grace Smith of East Point, GA; and brother, Mickey Kirby of Roanoke, VA. He is survived by his brothers, Walker Kirby and wife, Lucy, of Pawley's Island, SC and Grover Kirby and wife, Dean, of Hueytown, AL; sister, Eula Floyd of Cross Hill, SC; daughters, Charlotte Ryan and husband, Tommy (Hugh) Ryan of Birmingham, AL, and Barbara Vandenberg; son, Rick Kirby and wife, Gail, of Albuquerque; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a graduate of Woodlawn High School in 1933. He was a member of Local Union #412 Plumbers and Pipe fitters for 62 years. Richard was 32nd Degree Mason Lodge #36, Albuquerque Scottish Rite, Ballut Abyad Shrine in Albuquerque, and Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star-Albuquerque Chapter 67. He will be missed greatly by his family and many friends, he never met a stranger. Richard loved fishing and traveling throughout the United States and with the Zia Roamer's RV group. He was a charter member of Hoffmantown (Baptist) Church. Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 17, 2008, 11:00 a.m., at Valhalla cemetery in Midfield. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 until 8 at Valhalla Funeral Home.
