Mrs. Josephine T.
Curren
Nov 7, 1941 — May 29, 2026
It is with deep sadness that the family of Josephine 'JoJo' T. Curren announces her passing on May 29, 2026, at the age of 84.
EARLY LIFE
Josephine Tucker Curren was born on November 7, 1941 in Maylene, Alabama to Pat Tucker and Helen Crim Tucker. She grew up in Bessemer and attended McAdory High School.
EDUCATION & CAREER
JoJo worked for Alabama Auto Parts in her early years and then a local steel company doing accounting work.
PERSONAL LIFE
JoJo married Jackie "Jack" Curren on May 5, 1964 in Bessemer. Jack pursued JoJo and would not take no for an answer. Finally, they married after JoJo insisted that Jack settle down and build her a house. They settled on the hill in Raymund Heights where they started Curren Wrecker Service. JoJo did all the accounting and dispatching. JoJo was known for being a savvy businesswoman while Jack was the muscle. In addition to her personal and professional accomplishments, she was an avid storyteller with a unique sense of humor. You could not help but laugh as she narrated events and adventures from years past. Her spiritual journey was most important to her. She took every opportunity to witness to everyone that crossed her path. Even while she was in the hospital, she would tell everyone that walked into her room of the goodness of God. JoJo (and the entire family) LOVED racing. She and Jack had 2 sons that both raced over the years. She often spoke of piling up in the Winnebago to travel to races and of all the memories they made along the way. She was overjoyed that her grandson, Brandon, discovered a love for racing and continues to carry on the Curren racing legacy. Aside from storytelling and racing, she was most known for her desire to feed everyone. She would never let you leave the house without offering you a meal, a cold drink, or at the very least, a snack. If you knew what was good for you, you'd better come hungry!
SURVIVORS
She is preceded in death by her husband Jackie "Jack" Curren, Sr. and Brothers Billy Tucker and George "Skeet" Tucker. She is survived in life by their children: Jackie (Heather) Curren; Jeff (Allison) Curren; and grandchildren: Ashley (Ryan) Nixon, Brandon (Kaitlin) Curren, Brittney Curren, and several great grandchildren and her sisters; Barbara Tucker and Bonnie Praytor.
CLOSING TRIBUTE : "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith" 2 Timothy 4:7.
