Nell Chamberlain Woods, age 65, born December 15, 1952, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 4, 2018. She grew up in Pleasant Grove, AL where she lived most of her life. She attended Pleasant Grove Elementary and High School. She graduated from Hueytown High School, class of 1970. After high school she attended Bessemer State Technical School where she completed a course for Dental Assistant. She loved this field and worked in this area for several years. She was a worker at First Baptist Church Pleasant Grove, AL, beginning in 1972, in areas of nursery, Bible school, GA's, Sunday School and more.

She battled Scleroderma for 42 years. She fought hard to live and do as much as she could to defeat it. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas J and Edna (Vines) Chamberlain, many loved aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her daughter Meredith Woods Carpenter (Chris) of Hoover, Alabama, grandchildren, Mikayla Shea Markham, Mary Eliza Carpenter, Carter Michael Carpenter, and Caleb Ralph Carpenter, her brother brother, Fred T. Chamberlain (Linda) of Columbus, GA, ex husband Tommy Woods (Lagetta) of Pell City, "daughter" Alison Stanley, and many other precious family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to the Scleroderma Research Foundation or to the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove, AL.

Funeral services will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home on Friday, April 6, 2018 . Family will be received from 10-10:30 , with a private family service at 10:30 . Other friends and loved ones will be received from 11:30-1:00 . Graveside services to follow at Valhalla Cemetery.
