Obituary

Nettie P. Shirey Hardin, 93 of Hoover, passed away on July 15, 2009. She was a much loved wife, daughter, mother, sister, sister-in-law, and grandmother. She will also be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. She was born in Clay County Alabama on February 28, 1916 to Charles M. and Dora Shirley. After she married, she lived in Birmingham for the remainder of her life. She was a member of Gardendale First Baptist Church. She and her husband enjoyed traveling in their RV for a number of years during their retirement. She was preceded in death in 1995 by her husband of 59 years, Fornia Lee Hardin and a daughter, Dee Ann, who died in an automobile accident at the age of 2. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Her survivers include her 3 children, Raymond Lee (Annie Laurie) Hardin, Gail (Joe) Erwin and Carol Ann Hardin as well as her sisters, Nonnie S. Ward of Pelham and Glendora S. Brown (Raymond) of Vestavia Hills. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ray and Marla Hardin of Decatur, AL, Michael and Laurie Hardin of Alpharetta, GA, Melissa and Tom Horesh of Brentwood, TN and Greg and Sandra Erwin of Hoover. She is also survived by her 8 great grandchildren, Sydney, Savannah and Maxwell Lee Hardin, Reagan and Reeves Hardin, Ryan Erwin, Brooke and Lila Horesh. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 2 p.m.at the Valhalla Funeral Home in Midfield with burial in Valhalla Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service at 12:00.
