Nonnie Shirey Ward was born on October 20, 1923 in Clay County, Alabama and passed away on July 19, 2017.

She grew up with 10 siblings after finishing school and moved to Birmingham to work as Rosie the Riveter during World War II. After the War ended, she met and married Wesley F. Ward. Wesley Ward passed away in 1983. From this marriage came two daughters; Olivia And Donna; a son, Wesley Ward, II; four grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

She loved her family and was fully involved in their lives. Her last career was with the City of Hoover School System where she retired. She was active with her church family and her community. Her love for God, friends and community will always be remembered.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 2:00 P. M. at Valhalla Chapel in Midfield. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Valhalla Cemetery.
