Patsy Ruth (Nichols) Hazel, 83, of Pleasant Grove, Alabama was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 16, 2010.
Mrs. Hazel, "Pat" was a devoted and faithful member of Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church where she served her Savior for over sixty-five years. She loved children and taught the third grade Sunday School class in following in the steps of Jesus. A devoted wife and mother, she prayed each night with her husband for her family, her Church family, and the unsaved. She was a faithful member of the adult choir, the Gold-tone choir, and served with other devoted Christian Ladies in the WMU. She married Robert E. Hazel on July 12, 1944, and lovingly and faithfully supported her husband through two major conflicts (WWII and Korea); raising two daughters who have both served the Lord in the Church music program. She was a compassionate woman who was loved by many and believed that forgiveness was a way of life.
Visitation will be at 11:00 AM and funeral service at 12:00 Noon at Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church, on Wednesday, May 19, 2010. Graveside service following at Valhalla Cemetery. Pastors Ed Cruce and Harry Sims will be officiating, with grand-daughters giving special eulogy. Pallbearers are Grandsons, Great-Grandsons and special friend, Bob Key.
She was preceded in death by their infant son Robert Hazel Jr., her parents, Callie Williams and Bruce Nichols, and her brother Bruce Nichols, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Hazel; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Gerald Heaton and Robbie and Jeff Elliott; grandchildren, Christa (Matt) Diffley, Rebekah (Todd) Harmon, Joy (Ken) Morris, Jennifer (Jason) Close, Patrick (Rosita) Elliott, Ryan Elliott, Taylor Elliott and Leila Elliott; great grandchildren, Jerrod Diffley, Justin Diffley, Shelby Diffley, Sarah Morris, Logan Close, Noah Harmon, and Ethan Elliott; and her faithful furry companion, Buddy.
