R. C. Horton
April 7, 1924 - November 20, 2015

R. C. Horton, age 91 of Bessemer passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Horton was a native and life long resident of Jefferson County where he was a member of the Union Baptist Church. He retired from Woodward Iron Company with forty-five years of service. He was a World War II veteran with the United States Army and earned the Purple Heart and medal of Valor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Jones Horton.

Mr. Horton is survived by his son, Richard W. Horton and one sister, Nellie Sue Lawley.

Services will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Mahaffey officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Valhalla Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
