Nelson, Jr., Rev. Joe , had a going home celebration in heaven on February 19, 2008. During his ministry he pastored Cordova Assembly of God for 30 years and Talladega Assembly of God for 2 years. Prior to this he was a deacon, a Royal Ranger leader and a Sunday School teacher at Bessemer First Assembly of God. He graduated from Oakmon High School and played football while attending there. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Nelson, son-in-law, Roy Hadley, brother. Oddis Nelson and his parents, Beaulah and Joe. He is survived by, Naomi Nelson Baker (Bill), Arlene Nelson Hadley, Becky Nelson, Ronnie Nelson (Regina), grandchildren, Victor Baker, Todd Baker, Shauna Baker Burrows (Danny), Nathan Coshatt (Elizabeth), Christopher Coshatt, Jody Nelson, Ron Nelson, Joy Nelson Nichols, great grandchild, Jerrard Michael Coshatt, sisters, Loretta Laird (James), Dorothea Lollar, Gladys Key and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home on Friday, February 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Jerry Alexander officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2008 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
