Obituary

age 87, of Hoover,Alabama, passed away May 4, 2006. Richard was born July 1, 1918. He grew up in Ensley , Alabama from Ensley High School in 1935. He worked at TCI (U.S. Steel) until serving in WW II 1941-1945, first in the infantry then the Air Corps. He was at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii during the Pearl Harbor attack. He was in the 12th Air Force and flew the B-25 aircraft, was stationed in Italy and completed 70 bombing missions over the Po Valley. After his military service, he and his wife lived in Midfield, Alabma 54 years, moving to Hoover in 1999. He sold life insurance, retiring at age 62 from Mutual Savings Life Insurance Co. As a younger man, he loved fishing. He was an avid Auburn University football fan, enjoyed reading about WW II and telling stories about his military experiences. He was preceded in death by his parents James Franklin and Ida Steele Satterwhite; his brother Franklin S. (Irene) Satterwhite, and his sister Luelle Satterwhite (Roy) Hampton. He loved his family and his cat Cindy. Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years Kathryn Adair Stuckey Satterwhite; his son Richard Bozeman (Pong Im) Ssatterwhite,Jr.; his daughter Susan Satterwhite (Joey) Stephenson; grandson Steven Richard Satterwhite and great grandson Lucas Satterwhite. Visitation will be from 10:30 am till Noon on Saturday, May 6,2006 with a 12:30 graveside at Valhalla Cemetery.
