IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Donald
Baird
November 22, 1934 – January 16, 2026
Robert Donald (Don) Baird
, 91, of Adamsville, Alabama passed away on January 16, 2026. He
was born November 22, 1934. Everyone who knew Don knew of his love for family, friends, and
country. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, serving on the USS Cogswell
during the Korean War from 1952-1956. He also loved the local VFW. He retired from Hayes
International Aircraft and PEMCO after 31 years and then enjoyed traveling all over the United
States. He really enjoyed the National Parks, not to mention, Las Vegas. Don was a hard
worker and a man who was never without a project, whether it was taking on any construction
job he could find, helping friends and neighbors with their properties, amassing an impressive
coin collection, or simply meticulously picking up pinecones in order to have the most beautiful
yard in Adamsville.
He lived a full life and knew both deep loss and deep joy, outliving three of his children and
three wives. Yet he never lost his humor or heart. He had a smile for everyone, loved a good
prank, and could make anyone belly laugh with one of his wild stories. "The Most Interesting
Man in the World" had nothing on him to hear Don tell it!
He was not overtly religious, but demonstrated the love of Christ in the very best ways through
unconditional love, overwhelming generosity, and unbiased kindness to anyone who needed
help. This legacy is also reflected in his children.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna (John) Crider and Christy (Tom) Parker, and one
beloved nephew that he raised as a son, Eddie (Mary Jane) Whatley, along with 7
grandchildren, Andy (Robin) Green, Lindsey (Christopher) Bloodworth, Lauren (Whit) McGhee,
Ashley Nichols, Carissa Crider, Christopher Parker, and Lily Grace Parker, and 4 great-grandchildren that brought him much joy in his twilight years, Avery McGhee, Imy Green, and Oliver and Benjamin Bloodworth.
Preceding him in death were his loving wives Imogene Baird, Ann Adams, and Gaye Nell Duke
Baird along with his children, Joel Baird, Robert "Bobby" Baird Jr., and Beth Kolarchick, and
brother Gene Weaver, sister Dolores Whatley, beloved nephew Ronnie Whatley, and parents
Mary Elizabeth Whatley and Curry Thomas Whatley.
The visitation will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Valhalla Chapel with the Funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Valhalla Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Korean War Veterans
Association (KWVA.US).
