Obituary

Robert Lamar Smith, age 92 formerly of Maplesville, Alabama, passed away on April 30, 2023. He retired from both the United States Navy and United States Postal Service. He was also a Master Mason. He was a current resident of Helena, Alabama for the past 50 years where he resided with his wife of 64 years, Geraldine Key Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Lamar Smith and Amanda Marie Rutledge; his wife, Geraldine Key Smith; and his son, Michael Lamar Smith.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol Ann Foster and her husband, Johnny; grandson, Jeffery Lamar Foster and his wife, Christy; granddaughter, Jamie Smith Bachman and her husband, Jason; great granddaughters, Amilia Rose and Cassie Wren Foster, and several nephews and nieces.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 1-2 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home, 5317 Bessemer Super Highway, Midfield, AL 35228. Graveside services will be held at 2pm at Valhalla Cemetery.
