Robert Lewis Sweat, age 83 of Bessemer, AL passed away on December 8, 2017 surrounded by his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, the late John Wesley and Alice Irene Sweat; wife, Jessie Lee Sweat; son, Kim Lamar Sweat and siblings, Lutrell Pounds, Bernard Sweat and John Willie Sweat.

He leaves behind: son, Robert Michael Sweat; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann (Jose'') Bautista and Wanda Raye (Lars) Anderson; five siblings, Sylvester Sweat, William (Glenda) Sweat, Mildred Johnson, Marie (Larry) Tuten, Grace Proser and Marilyn (George) Lee; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 10 AM to 11 AM in the Chapel of Valhalla Funeral Home 5317 Bessemer Super Highway, Midfield. A graveside service will be held at 11:15 AM at Valhalla Cemetery
