Ruth Brimner Dawson Davidson, 90, passed away on November 23, 2017. A funeral service will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home in Birmingham, Alabama on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Mike McElroy officiating with burial at Valhalla Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:30 a. m. prior to the service.

Mrs. Davidson was a resident of Tallassee, Alabama for the past three years. She lived most of her life in Hueytown, Alabama. She was born December 27, 1926 in Birmingham to Ruth and George Brimner, Sr. She married James Hoyt Dawson on November 21, 1949. He preceded her in death as the result of a Naval helicopter crash on July 26, 1959. She later married James Russell Davidson on November 3, 1961 who also preceded her in death on May 12, 1976.

Mrs. Davidson graduated from Hueytown High School and Samford University with an Associates Degree. She had a long career in accounting with Sears. She was a member of the Sunset Rock Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Hueytown Historical Society and the Hueytown Alumni Association. She was an avid genealogist and wrote extensively for her family and friends. Her church life was an integral part of her faith as a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Hueytown and later as a member of East Tallassee Church of Christ in Tallassee.

Mrs. Davidson is survived by her daughter, Ruthanne Dawson McCaig (Delmar) of Tallassee, Alabama; son, Russell E. Davidson (Lori) of Bessemer, Alabama; stepson Larry C. Davidson of Northport, Alabama; brother, Jack Brimner of Hueytown, Alabama. Her grandchildren are Leigh Anne McCaig Butler (Michael) of Tallassee, Victoria Lynn McCaig Johnston (Bryan) of Montgomery, Isabella Davidson of Birmingham, Wayne Davidson (Tammy) of Pelham; William Davidson, Shawn Davidson (Heather) of Northport, Gina Davidson Franklin (Mark) of Milton, Florida, Kevin Davidson (Cathy) of Oak Grove, nieces, Judy Hayes (Bobby) of Pelham, Joy Jones (Dale) of Hoover, and nephew Johnny Lance (Marci) of Ohatchee. She has fifteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Davidson is also preceded in death by stepsons, Tom Davidson, Bobby Davidson; sister, Angelin Lance, and brother, G. F. Brimner, Jr.
