Ruth M. Grimes, age 89, of Bessemer, Al passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014 at her residence.

Ms. Grimes was a native and life long resident of Jefferson County. She was an avid gardener, homemaker and a member of the Rock Mountain Lake Church of God. Her husband and two daughters preceded her in death, A. V. Grimes, Carolyn Lindburg and Shirley Parker.

Ms. Grimes is survived by one daughter, Barbara Thomas (Daniel) and a son, Charles Grimes (Carolyn); 13 grandchildren ; 21 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 12 Noon at Valhalla Chapel with the Rev.''s Michael Smith and Greg Traweek officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
