Selina Jewell Alexander Carter, age 91of Birmingham, AL passed away on September 5, 2019. Born January 3, 1928 to Houston and Edna Alexander, Jewell as she was affectionately known grew up to be a bright young lady earning her Master's Degree and becoming a Librarian at Ida Moffett School of Nursing and Samford University where she worked until retirement.  She was a member of Huffman Baptist; she loved her church and all of her church family. She was an avant reader and a great conversationalist who enjoyed traveling.

Jewell was preceded in death by her husband, B. W. Carter and her parents.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two special and long time friends, Rosalyn W. Sewell (Leslie) and Rochelle W. Johnson and countless others whose lives she has touched as a librarian.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Valhalla Funeral Home, 5317 Bessemer Super Highway, Midfield, AL 35228 from 10 AM to 12 Noon with Graveside Services  to immediately follow at Valhalla Cemetery.
