Susie Gaynell Cannon Mitchell, age 87, of Birmingham, AL died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 in Jasper, AL.

Mrs. Mitchell was born in Ozark, AL and came to Jefferson County at an early age where she lived most of her life. She was a member of Central Park Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Ray Mitchell; daughter, Phyllis Rae Mitchell; brother, David Cannon; mother, Rena Mae Helms Cannon; father, Jesse Thomas Cannon.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Mitchell Classen Wilson (Carroll); granddaughter, Leila Classen Saucier Belcher; grandson, Timothy Mitchell Classen (Shellie); great grandchildren, Harrison Saucier, Sebastian Saucier, Lucas Belcher, and Logan Belcher, sister, Mary Lou Vines (James); numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 1:30 P.M. at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Lavan Parker and the Rev. Jim Vines officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
