Thelma Brasher Garner, age 89, of Bessemer, Al died Thursday, May 08, 2014 at Cedar Ridge Group Home in Jemison.

Ms. Garner was a native and life long resident of Bessemer, Jefferson County, where she was a member of the former Westside Baptist Church. She was a retired teacher from the Thomas Acres School of Bessemer and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jefferson "A. J." Garner and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one son, Gary Garner and wife Vickie; two grandchildren, Galen Lloyd Garner and wife Tiffany, and Joshua Andrew Garner; a great grandson, Zane Ford Garner.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the Fireside Room of the Hunter Street Baptist Church. The family will receive friends after the service in the Fireside Room.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Chi Alpha Music Ministry of the Hunter Street Baptist Church.
