Griffith, Velera Beck, age 55, of Brierfield, AL, succumbed to Ovarian cancer on February 13, 2008 after months of illness. She passed away at a Birmingham hospital. She was born on November 14, 1952. She graduated from Fairfield High School and attended Samford University. She was a lover of pets and an avid reader. She was employed at Fairfield Library and later at Columbiana Library. When living in Fairfield, she was a member of the Forest Hills Baptist Church. She loved her present job, church secretary for the Montevallo First Baptist Church. Her grandparents and her father, Billy Joe Beck preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Joe Thomas Griffith, her mother; Betty Beck; also aunts uncles and cousins. Graveside services will be on Friday, February 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Valhalla cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 12 until 2 p.m.
