Vera Jane Simpson Cox, age 84, of Hueytown, Alabama passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at her residence.

She was a native of Walker County and a resident of Mobile, Al most all of her life. She and her husband moved to Hueytown in 1997 where she resided. She was a member of the Ezra Baptist Church in Bessemer and was a former member of Orchard Baptist Church in Mobile. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Cox is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Herbert Cox; six daughters, Christyne McGlawn (Earl), Lois Rhoads, Jeanne Cox, Renee Harris, Carol McCool (Craig), and Terri Cox; a son, Michael Cox (Trina); fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren and George.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Valhalla Cemetery with Richard Bryant officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2:00 P.M. at Valhalla Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Ezra Baptist Church, 1210 Toadvine Road, Bessemer, AL 35023.
