Mrs. Vera M. Wills, daughter of the late Laymon Thomas, Sr. and Gertrude Kennedy, was born July 20,, 1927 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was faithfully and lovingly married to Albert Calvin Wills for thirty-four years and to that union was given one child, Phillip Calvin Wills. She departed this life on Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Baptist Princeton Medical Center at approximately 7:40 A. M.
She attended public schools in Birmingham, Alabama and graduated from Parker High School. Her career training was initiated at Nurses Training School of Alabama. After relocating to New York she furthered her education in the medical field at Allied Health Career, a division of Manhattan Medical and Dental Assistants School. In addition she became a licensed real estate agent.
Our beloved Vera-- wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend extraordinaire-- leaves to cherish her memories: her son, Phillip C. Wills and his wife Fannie M. Wills; granddaughter Sajada Wills Payne; two great grandchildren, Alaizha J. Wills and Darius A. Wills and Darius A. Wills and a host of relatives and friends.
Her enduring strength, courage, and quiet spirit were an inspiration to family, friends, and acquaintances alike.
Services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 1 P.M. at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel with a burial at Valhalla Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel.
