Vivian Jessica Payne, 101, of Bessemer passed away peacefully at her home on December 30, 2018. She was born May 15, 1917.  She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her large and loving family. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church.

She leaves behind children; Faye Callahan (Jerry), Freida Hale (Tommy), Patricia Sandlin (James), Carlene Callahan (Ronnie), Deborah Bates (Art) and Carl Payne, Jr. (Connie); grandchildren, Vickii Marchant (Bryan), Shawn Callahan (Susan), Thad Sandlin (Joyce), Jarrod Bates (Sarah), Jeremy Bates (Lindsey), Rachel Darrow (Mike), and Amber Livingston;  thirteen great-grandchildren; Baleigh Marchant, Emaleigh Marchant, Sam Callahan, Sawyer Callahan, Simon Callahan, Seth Callahan, Maddie Bates, Elara Bates, Marielle Bates, Isabella Bates, Julianna Bates, Abigail Bates, and Landon Darrow.  She is preceded in death by her husband Carl Payne, Sr, daughter Jacqueline, her father Jesse Poe, her mother Mattie Poe and her brothers and sister.

A service celebrating her life will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 at 12 Noon at Tannehill Valley Baptist Church with John Loper and Morgan Bailey officiating followed by graveside service at Valhalla Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 12 Noon at the church.
