Mrs. Wanda Joyce Foster, a soldier in God's Army, fought a hard and good fight, but finished her course Saturday, November 30, 2013 when she heard God's call and took His hand.

God blessed this earth with his beloved daughter, Wanda Joyce Sykes, on May 20, 1964 to the late Arthur Sykes, Sr. and Lucille Sykes in Union Town, AL. Joyce accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and she was a light in darkness to all she encountered for 49 years.

Joyce was united in Holy Matrimony to Michael Foster on May 8, 1998 in Birmingham; AL. Joyce was a loving wife and mother to one son, John Sykes-Foster (A.J.). She is most remembered for her kind and selfless spirit that loved all regardless of what a person may have done to her. God has now given her the reward she has earned, a place in Heaven.

Let her works bring her praise as her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who love her.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Lucille Sykes, Sr.

Joyce leaves to celebrate her life and home going: her husband, Michael Foster of Birmingham, AL; one son, John Sykes-Foster (A.J.) of Hoover, AL; one step daughter, Marla Foster of Texas; two sisters and one brother, Sarah (Raymond) Long of Atlanta, Georgia, Arthur (Dawn) Sykes, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, and Michelle Sykes of Birmingham, AL; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2013 at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel, 5317 Bessemer Super Highway, Midfield, AL 35228 with burial in Valhalla Cemetery.

Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel.
