age 79, of Pleasant Grove, AL passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010. He graduated from Fairfield High School. He honorably served in the U. S. Army and the U. S. Navy. He was retired from U. S. Steel, Fairfield, Alabama and was a member of First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove Alabama. Preceded in death by his parents, Mary and John Maxwell, and brother, Jack Maxwell. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen Blackstone Maxwell; two daughters, Becky (Dan) Lewis and Judy (Paul) Lorino; and one son, Bill (Carol) Maxwell, Jr.; five granddaughters, Kim (Bill) Miller, Ginger (Jacob) Kerby, Angela Maxwell, Holly Lorino and Ashley Lewis; one grandson, John Maxwell and two great grandchildren, Will Miller and McKenzie Kerby; several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff of Odyssey Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Charitable Donation Fund at First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 7, 2010 at Valhalla Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 6, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
