William Earl Chaple, Jr., age 93 of Hoover died Friday, August 29, 2014 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his son, William E. Chaple, III and his parents, William E. Chaple, Sr. and Marie Dedman Chaple.

Mr. Chaple was a native and life long resident of Jefferson County. He was a charter member of the Riverside Baptist Church in Helena. Mr. Chaple served in the United States Army where he was a veteran of World War II, formerly worked with the IRS and retired from the VA Hospital. He loved his family, Lord and church.

He is survived by his wife, Bettye R. Chaple; two daughters, Janice Johnson and Karen Greene (Mike); one son, Kelly Chaple; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Riverside Baptist Church in Helena at 11:00 A.M. with visitation from 10:30 -11:00 A.M. prior to the service. Pastor J. J. Stanbridge will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.
