William Haywood Herd, age 92, of Pleasant Grove died Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Legacy Health and Rehab of Pleasant Grove and was a long time resident of Pleasant Grove. He served in the United States Navy where he was Boatswain''s Mate Second Class and was a veteran of World War II. He was of the Methodist Faith and retired from Consolidated Nuclear Securities, LLC. Mr. Herd was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Neyman Herd and his parents, Leonard P. Herd and Lelia Emory Herd.

Mr. Herd is survived by one brother, Joe (Suzie) Herd; three nieces; one nephew; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Valhalla Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 1:00 P.M. at Valhalla Funeral Home.
