Obituary

William Jackson Thigpen, age 86, of McCalla, AL, a loving father and devoted husband, passed away Sunday,February 27, 2011.
Mr. Thigpen was a native and life long resident of Alabama where he retired from U. S. Steel and was a member of the Baptist Church at McAdory. He was a Veteran of World War II with the United States Navy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roger Thigpen, and Lillie Payne Thigpen, a brother, Roger Thigpen, Jr., and a sister, Louise Thigpen Foster.
Mr. Thigpen is survived by his wife, Mary Evelyn Thigpen of McCalla; two sons, Eddie Thigpen of Hoover and Johnny Thigpen of Decatur, GA; brother, George D. Thigpen of Hueytown; grandchildren, Ashley Thigpen of Helena, Jeslyn Thigpen Quinn and Candace Thigpen of Hoover.
A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2011 at 12 noon at Valhalla Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Valhalla Funeral Home.
The family request donations be mde to the Baptist Church at McAdory.
